Mobile Service Sync vs Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro Costs $100 for Your Sixth Tech. Ours Costs $29.

Here is what Housecall Pro actually costs, including the crew sizes where they are cheaper than us, because there are several. Their Essentials tier at $189 for five users is real value and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The catch is the sixth seat: $100 a month each past the included five. And whatever the price, Housecall Pro is built for houses, not vehicles. There is no plate decode, no VIN, no per-truck history, no fleet portal.

Housecall Pro list prices from housecallpro.com/pricing, August 2026: Basic $79/mo with 1 user, Essentials $189/mo with 5 users and $100/mo per additional seat, Max $329/mo with 8 users and $75/mo per additional seat. Each row uses whichever of their tiers is genuinely cheapest at that crew size, including moving from Essentials to Max at 8 users. Add-ons are excluded from both columns. Our Core tier is not shown because its 20-job monthly cap makes it the wrong comparison for a working crew.
Mobile Service Sync

Choose Mobile Service Sync if...

  • You expect to grow past five users and do not want each new hire to cost $100/mo in software
  • The thing you service has a VIN and needs its own service history
  • Fleet accounts are real revenue and their dispatcher should have a portal, net terms, and PO rules
  • You want service due dates driven by mileage and interval, not the calendar
  • Your techs run routes with many stops rather than a few long appointments
  • You stock parts on the van and want inventory counted per truck
Housecall Pro

Choose Housecall Pro if...

  • You have five users or fewer: Essentials at $189 flat is hard to beat and we do not beat it
  • Your work is plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or cleaning rather than vehicles
  • You sell big tickets that need consumer financing
  • You run a phone room and want call center and CSR tooling
  • You want deep flat-rate price books for home trades
  • You want payroll inside the same product
Seat pricing

The number that surprises people is the seat, not the plan

FeatureMobile Service SyncHousecall Pro
  • Cost per additional user
Ours is $29/mo on Growth and Pro. Housecall Pro is $100/mo per seat past the 5 included on Essentials, and $75/mo past the 8 on Max.
  • Hiring a sixth tech
Costs us $29/mo more. On Housecall Pro Essentials it costs $100/mo more, or a jump to the $329 Max tier.
  • Cheapest published entry tier
Housecall Pro Basic is $79/mo, or $59/mo annual. Our Core is $49/mo but caps at 20 jobs a month, so it is not a fair match for Basic.
  • Best mid-size value
Essentials at $189 for 5 users is genuinely good. We do not beat it on price at that crew size, and we are not going to claim we do.
  • Predictable cost as the crew grows
Our bill moves in $29 steps. Theirs moves in $100 steps, then $75 steps, with a tier jump in between.

Vehicles

Housecall Pro services homes. You service vehicles.

FeatureMobile Service SyncHousecall Pro
  • Vehicle as a first-class record
Their model is customer and property, built for a house with a furnace in it. Ours is customer and vehicle.
  • Plate or VIN decode to year / make / model / engine
  • Per-vehicle service history
They keep job history per customer. There is no vehicle for a repair to belong to.
    Partial
  • Mileage and service-interval reminders
Their recurring service plans are date-based, which is right for an HVAC tune-up and wrong for an oil change.
    Partial
  • Multi-vehicle customers
One customer, forty trucks, each with its own history and next-due date.
Fleet accounts

B2B fleet work needs different plumbing

FeatureMobile Service SyncHousecall Pro
  • Dedicated fleet account workspace
  • Per-fleet pricing rules applied automatically
Housecall Pro has price books and customer discounts. Rules that live on the fleet account and price every booking are ours.
    Partial
  • Net-terms billing and PO-required rules per fleet
Their strength is consumer payment: card, financing, text to pay. Fleet net terms with a required PO is a different flow.
    Partial
  • Self-serve fleet portal for the customer's dispatcher
  • Fleet vehicle roster with CSV export
  • Fleet sales pipeline
They sell a Pipeline add-on. Ours is on Pro and is shaped around landing fleet contracts.

Where Housecall Pro wins

What they are genuinely better at

FeatureMobile Service SyncHousecall Pro
  • Consumer marketing depth
Campaigns, postcards, and a mature review engine. We do review requests and interval remarketing; they do more.
    Partial
  • Consumer financing on big tickets
A $12,000 HVAC replacement needs financing. A $90 oil change does not.
  • Call center and CSR tooling
Their voice and CSR AI products are built for shops with a phone room. We ship two-way texting, not a call center.
    Partial
  • Home-trade price books
Deep flat-rate price books for plumbing and HVAC. Ours are canned jobs for vehicle service.
  • Payroll and accounting add-ons
We sync to QuickBooks Online and do clock-in for payroll-grade hours, but we do not run payroll.

Field operations

Routes, not appointment windows

FeatureMobile Service SyncHousecall Pro
  • Multi-truck drag-and-drop dispatch board
    Partial
  • One-click route optimization on real drive times
They optimize a schedule. We optimize a route, which is the constraint when a tech does eight stops in a day.
    Partial
  • Live crew map with en-route and on-site status
  • Service area by ZIP and radius, enforced at booking
    Partial
  • Van-level parts inventory
  • Card-present payment at the vehicle
  • QuickBooks Online sync

Shortlisting Housecall Pro against Jobber?

Most people evaluating one of them are evaluating both. The short version of all three.

Housecall Pro

Home-trades specialist. $79/mo entry, best value at five users on Essentials, then $100/mo per seat. Deepest consumer marketing.

Jobber

The generalist. $49/mo entry, seats at $29/mo, widest trade coverage. Marketing Suite is a $99/mo add-on.

Mobile Service Sync

Vehicle specialist. Plate decode, per-vehicle history, fleet portals, seats at $29/mo. Narrower on purpose.

The why

Why the seat price decides this.

Growth should be cheap

Adding a tech should cost roughly what a phone line costs, not a third of a plan. A $100 seat quietly taxes every hire you make.

A house is not a vehicle

Their model is a property with equipment in it, which is right for HVAC. Vehicles move, carry VINs, and accrue mileage.

Intervals, not dates

A furnace gets serviced every spring. A truck gets serviced at 5,000 miles, which arrives whenever it arrives.

Stock rides in the van

Inventory spread across trucks needs counting per truck. One warehouse total tells you nothing actionable.
