Mobile Service Sync vs. Steer

One System for the Whole Van, Not a Layer on Top.

Steer, the company that used to be Mechanic Advisor, sells booking, phones and marketing to repair and quick lube shops that already run a shop management system. Mobile Service Sync is the whole system for a mobile crew: the booking and the reminders, and also the schedule, the route, the tech app, the invoice and the payment.

5 Reasons Mobile Crews Pick Mobile Service Sync Over Steer

  1. One Click Puts Each Van's Day in Order

Steer is built for shops whose customers drive to them. It has no dispatch and no route.

Drag jobs onto a tech, then one click sequences that tech's stops on real Mapbox drive times. Every van's stops sit on one map, and moving a stop to another van is one drag. When the margin is the drive between driveways, this is the screen that pays for the software.

Schedule map view: each technician's route color-coded across the city, stops listed in arrival order with one-click optimize
  2. A Technician App on iPhone and Android

Steer has no technician app; it is a front-desk tool.

Live on the App Store and Google Play. Today's stops in order with one-tap navigation, the on-my-way text, photo inspections, the van's stock, clock in and out, and the payment before the tech pulls away. The laptop stays home.

Mobile app schedule - the day's visits in order with times, vehicles, services, and totals
Job detail in the tech app: vehicle, service, and payment
  3. Paid Before You Pull Away

Steer does not invoice or take payments, which stay in your shop system. Here the job, the invoice and the payment are one record.

Key the card in the app, charge a card on file, or text a pay link. Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo and ACH work too. Processing is 2.9% + $0.30 on standard cards and $0.20 flat per transaction for ACH, at Rainforest's published rates, and invoices sync to QuickBooks Online.

  4. Every Vehicle Gets Its Own Next-Due Date

Steer's service reminders and review requests start on its Essentials plan at $479 a month. Ours are on Core at $49.

When a job closes, the vehicle gets a due date from its own interval, its fleet's default, or how often it actually comes back. Switch reminders on and the customer gets an email, plus a text if they opted in, with a link to book the next one.

  5. One Price, Month to Month

With Steer, the shop management system is a second bill. Mobile Service Sync is the shop management system.

Core is $49 a month, Growth is $175 with two users, and Pro is $299 with five. Extra users are $29. Plate lookup, routing, the tech app, payments, reviews and QuickBooks sync are on every plan. No contract, no onboarding fee, and 14 days free without a card.
